THE TAKEOVER IS BACK! LOPEZ SCORES TKO IN COMEBACK FIGHT
Last night, at the Resorts in Las Vegas, Teofimo Lopez dominated in his first fight since experiencing a devastating loss to George Kambosos jr back in November of 2021. This was also Teofimo's debut fight at junior welterweight (140LBS). Lopez battered the overmatched Campa from the opening bell. Pedro Campa proved one thing to me. He's one tough son of a bitch. He took Lopez' punishment in stride, firing back with his own shots (not doing much damage) until the 7th. In the 7th Lopez came out firing on all cylinders, knowing Campa didn't have much left in the tank. Campa's face was swelling badly, his eyes and nose starting to look like mush. It was an up jab that finally dropped Campa, and Lopez finished him off after pinning him to the ropes and unleashing a flurry of punches. Referee Tony Weeks stepped in and stopped the punishment, saving Campa from himself. Some guys are too tough for their own good... and that usually makes for great entertainment in boxing.
Teofimo Lopez went on to call out the who's who of the junior welterweight division. Lopez stated: "We want Josh Taylor, we want Prograis, we want Zepeda, that's what we want. We want to be a two-division world champion. I'll take all them boys and take all their dreams away. I'm here to be their nightmare."
Big words from the former champ. Now he has to go back them up. I'm looking forward to seeing him prove all his doubters wrong and proving the Kambosos loss was just a fluke. Guys like Teofimo Lopez are good for boxing. He's a love him or hate him type of personality, being charismatic, outspoken, and someone you either are really entertained by or really annoyed by. Either way people will pay to watch him fight whether they rooting for him or not.
