Berlanga expected to be fined and suspended by NYSAC

The New York State athletic commission is expected to fine and suspend Edgar Berlanga for attempting to bite Alexis Angulo during their fight Saturday night. After the fight, Berlanga tried to make light of the situation, stating that Angulo was throwing elbows at him and he "was about to do a Mike Tyson on him (referring to when Mike Tyson bit a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear off because of repeated headbutts. Can't say that I didn't see this coming. The length of the suspension is unknown at this time.

Berlanga later apologized on his social media accounts, after receiving heavy backlash from the boxing community and media. I don't think it will make much of a difference. Will Bob Arum help him or not even bother? Can he help him? We will see if he gets 6 months or more. If it is a year or longer, and the other state athletic commissions uphold New York's decision (meaning he wouldn't be allowed to fight anywhere), it will be a bad blow to his career.
